isn’t a blockbuster from Lucas and Spielberg – in fact, while it might have

been the inspiration for the first Indiana Jones movie in 1981, this film

came out in 1941!

Forty years before the release of the Raiders of the Lost Ark, English

actor Leslie Howard released a movie he had produced and directed with his

The Wind(1939), in which he played the character that will always be

associated with him: honor-bound intellectual Southern gentleman Ashley

Wilkes. Howard was passionate about the war effort, and was concerned with

alerting a wider audience to the growing threat of Nazi Germany. Howard

also desired to produce a film that would update his famous role as Sir

Percy Blakeney in The Scarlet Pimpernel (1934) from Revolutionary France to

pre-World War II Europe. The result was an amazing feature film entitled

Pimpernel Smith (1941), known as Mister V in the USA.

Howard played the title role of Professor Horatio Smith, who uses his cover

Smith engages in a game of cat-and-mouse with his ruthless Nazi adversary

who has been assigned to track him down.

The film is even credited with inspiring Raoul Wallenberg, a Swedish

humanitarian, who in 1942 attended a private screening of Howard’s latest

film with his sister Nina. “On the way home,” his sister recalled, “he told

me this was the kind of thing he would like to do.” Wallenberg went on to

mount a rescue operation in Budapest that, conservatively estimated, saved

15,000 Hungarian Jews from Hitler’s gas chambers. It is doubtful whether

any other movie has ever inspired an act of heroism on quite this scale.

Now available on DVD, Pimpernel Smith serves as a reminder of the power of

During one such daring adventure, Smith is wounded, which reveals his secret to his admiring students. They enthusiastically join him in his struggle, but things are complicated when one of his students brings a mysterious woman into their inner circle.
Out of all the genres of books that have been written, science fiction seems to be one that is a class apart from all the others. The feeling towards the genre is either one of fanatic following and great enjoyment or extreme hatred. Those who have a natural penchant for unearthly objects and unsolved mysteries tend it would seem to get addicted at a relatively young age, which could be as young as 7 to 8 years. To appease the curiosity and desire to read more of such books, there are science fiction clubs that are formed where infatuated kids or teens can simply exchange books and videos of their favorite science fiction books and movies.

One of the first science fiction books that one can remember today are The Time Machine and Journey to the Center of the Earth, by H. G. Wells. Today these favorites have been replaced with modern classical space operas like Robert A. Heinleins Citizen of the Galaxy and Orson Scott Cards Enders Game. This kind of science fiction has a certain epic scope to the story. They contain galaxies fighting each other for power, phenomenal depictions of aliens, a twisted concept of time and many more.

Other than the space operas there are also those that base the stories on speculative fiction. They review current society and try to excogitate what the society will be like a hundred years from now by crystal ball gazing.

Given the growing popularity of these books every year sees a slew of new series and collections. If you are mesmerized by the concept of science fiction but have never tried reading one, then start with a small book. Skim through it before purchasing to determine whether it has a writing style that you like. The ones that are easy to read will prove to be more interesting since you are not likely to get too caught up with jargon that is incomprehensible.

If science books interest you then fantasy may be another genre that you might want to try since both these genres have a similarity between them. If has been seen that if one genre invokes you, the other will too. One major difference is that fantasy books tend to be set in the medieval times and often deal with magicians and sorcerers while science books tend to more about technology, gizmos, aliens and are set in a futuristic time zone.

Science fiction author Kapiel Raaj has just released his brand new novel titled Kyirux: The Message of Pascal. This is a first of trilogy books which deals with the biggest question asked in humanity today, Where did we come from, and who created this Universe? As a child and in our adulthood we have always wondered at some point or another about our origins, and true finite roots of humans and other life on this planet. Nothing can happen by accident, which even the physics agree to as the law of the jungle. There are many science fiction books out there, but hardly have I run into ones that answer the most basic question for humanity on a more subtle level. The last known good science fiction book regarding human origins and ancient aliens was 2001 Space Odyssey.

There are other like the comedy Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy and Dune, but mostly all left us asking more questions than answers, but seems like author Kapiel Raaj made it his life long passion to search for our origins. Hes also one of the first mainstream science fiction author of India. The reason why he wanted to write such a novel was not only to entertain a reader and take them on a journey that we only see in Spielbergs films, but he was looking for such a book or novel to answers some of the most profound question for him regarding human origins, and the origins of this Universe. He didnt care if it was fiction or non-fiction, he just wanted one true defining moment that would show everything in a book, and when he didnt find it, he wrote one himself in Kyirux Trilogy.

Let me share the short synopsis with you of Kyirux part 1. A strange device has been discovered from deep beneath the surface of our planet. Its origins: unknown. Its age: older than life, and its purpose; to change mankind. The secrets of human evolution and purpose of our existence has finally been answered by this device. The information it contains maybe too much for a human mind to fathom, because once the mind knows its true origin, it can drive a human being mad. This device, which identified itself as ‘KYIRUX’, also gave us a warning of celestial proportions. The information inside this device is not to be handled by the faint of hearts.

Just reading this synopsis gives you chills about quickly opening the first chapter and launching yourself into the unknown void of space which contains all the answers. This self published authors sci-fi book became such a huge hit on the web that he had to write the second part quicker than he ever expected; which was released on March 11th 2011. Just reading the first book makes you think completely different about the world and the matrix that surrounds us.

He not only talks about our origins, but he also solves some of the most famous theories about our ancient past in his trilogy, like: Pyramids, Planet Nibiru, Anunnaki and alien moon base which was first discovered during the Apollo 11 landing. The idea and theory he provides about the Alien moon base; blew my mind and shook me to the core, as I never looked at our moon in such a way before. Moon, for lack of a better word, is not what you think; its not what has been taught to you in science class in high school. This book will make you throw away your science books, or at least make you question them. The author has taken some of the true facts and conspiracies of our planet, and turned them into a cinematic theme storytelling avenue of a novel.

By Patrick Omari

The English Dictionary describes a villain as a ‘a character in a play, novel, or the like, who constitutes an important evil agency in the plot.’ The villain will generally be placed in direct opposition to the protagonist, offering an almost complete mirror image to that of the hero. Where the hero of a movie will promote good behaviour and virtue, the villain will seek to disrupt harmony and possess evil characteristics that contradict those of the protagonist.

To create a great movie villain, there are many characteristics that must be incorporated. For the character to fundamentally work as a menacing villain, they must be enigmatic with a sense of mystery surrounding them. Although not all villainous characters will possess this quality, the very best baddies will be almost complete enigmas.

An indifferent and enigmatic villain can be threatening as a villain with an almost cartoon-like evil uniform like Jason Vorhees from Friday the 13th. In The Matrix (1999), the army of ‘faceless’ agents are cold and emotionless and suggest an unbeatable threat with which the hero cannot reason or negotiate.

The all-powerful emotionless villain is portrayed excellently in the X-Files TV series by William B. Davis as the Cigarette Smoking Man. Throughout the series he is constantly in control of the heroes and any attempts to kill him are deemed self-destructive or futile. His power over the protagonists’ behaviour is linked to his role in the Syndicate, a mysterious organisation who seemingly are more powerful than the U.S. government.

Cigarette Smoking Man is not the traditional stereotypical villain, as he often hesitates in destroying the hero – Special Agent Fox Mulder. On many occasions, Mulder’s life is under threat and Smoking Man regularly prevents the Syndicate from authorising Mulder’s murder. His absolute power, suggested by his behaviour towards the show’s protagonists, is questioned within his role in the Syndicate as he is often belittled and degraded. However, despite his authority being questioned in these scenes he is till regarded as an obvious force with his control over Mulder’s destiny.

A sinister and disturbing persona can often be acquired by a villain when their behaviour is deemed unpredictable and erratic. This is often portrayed in movie villains that are criminally insane such as The Silence of the Lambs’ Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Played by Sir Anthony Hopkin, Lecter is a psychiatrist, cannibal murderer with the ability to manipulate and control those around him.

Lecter’s power comes from his intelligence and seeming lack of compassion. He uses extreme violence and rarely shows any sign of emotion, which only reinforces his role as a great movie villain. Other characters that have possessed a similar menacing quality are The Shining’s Jack Torrance and Psycho’s Norman Bates. Although, these two are considerably different in terms of motive, their threat is based primarily upon their lack of self-control.

A lack of self-control may not be the most dominant trait in the next villainous mention, but it is certainly a key aspect. In 1984, The Terminator burst onto movie screens all over the world as a relentless, unstoppable killing machine. This fearless, expressionless villain who will not feel pity or remorse was upgraded for the film’s sequel in 1992 when the relatively basic Series 850 Model 101 was outdone by the superior T-1000 model.

T-1000 offers all of the same frightening characteristics of the original Terminator but with an additional ability of shape-shifting. T-1000 is more advanced and so provides a more threatening villain, made from liquid metal and able to mimic various objects including John Connor’s foster-parents and his mother. This ability to shape-shift increases T-1000′s villainous abilities massively as he is able to manipulate and deceive his victims against their will and judgment.

On the opposite end of the scale are the villains that are emotive, excitable and with exaggerated personas as demonstrated by Heath Ledger’s villain in the most-recent Batman film, The Joker. The latest incarnation of the Clown Prince of Crime perfectly conveys his lack of empathy and almost-humorous contempt for human life. The most prominent aspect of The Joker is his colourful clothing and unusual physical appearance, with white face make-up, dyed green hair and smudged red lipstick.

The cartoon origins of the character lend themselves well to the movie villain, as his appearance is funny and appealing superficially. This technique is also used in other creations such as Stephen King’s It and Chucky in Child’s Play. These villains will play on children’s trust as they emotionally shape-shift from a friendly face to a horrific villain.

Among the characteristics of the perfect villain, the key component is absolute evil without any redeeming features. This is rare in movie villains as often the antagonist is usually a tortured soul, abuse victim or in extremely weak films a misunderstood character. However, every so often a pure evil villain will arrive and send shivers down the spines of movie-goers everywhere.

The ultimate movie villain, Darth Vader from Star Wars, is as mysterious and dark as any film character in history. Although we do learn things about Darth Vader during the films, he is both physically and psychologically masked and cloaked – adding to the character’s haunting menace. From his height (he was played by an actor nearly two metres tall), to his menacing voice which was dubbed over the original actor, Darth Vader is the most iconic movie villain in film history.

To make the ultimate movie villain there are a number of these characteristics that will help to make them memorable, dark, unpredictable and terrifying. Most movie villains will possess some, if not most, of these and will command the viewer’s respect and fear. For those villains that possess all of these characteristics and more, we must affirm their status as the ultimate in movie villainy.

Have you ever seen the film Avatar? (If not what planet were you on?) Did you observe the human characters continually referred to the aliens along with themselves as a race? Pay consideration to how science fiction writers and scriptwriters refer to aliens. It would give the impression that the greater part refer to alien races. Check out Startrek for example the term human or alien race is common and widely used.

So are they wrong? I believe so. Race to me means an minute genetic divergence. No more than the disparity concerning blue or brown eyes, black or blond hair. The practice would seem to be us as human beings consist of diverse races where the only variation is skin colour or facial features. We are all genetically compatible, the same family or species.

Aliens would not be genetically compatible with us. They would have evolved on a dissimilar planet plus surroundings therefore an alien would surely be a different species?

Be careful while you are writing so as not to fall into the frequent trap of having your aliens as a different race.

If we pursue what appears to be the generally held SciFi writers convention then Whales or Goldfinches are a separate race when they are in reality a separate species. Taking the argument in the direction of its logical ending there can be no such entity as an ‘alien race’ the two words are mutually exclusive. There is a school of thinking that uses the word race to refer to sentient beings. This is strictly speaking incorrect. What if out there somewhere between the stars is a species of sentient plants? By no stretch of the imagination could they be referred to as a different race of plants in contrast to us.

So are the bulk of Science Fiction writers therefore wrong? The mistake is not restricted to Sci Fi writers either. How frequently have you heard that you are a part of the Human Race?

If you happen to read one of my publications please don’t say to me ah ha! You have used the term race for aliens. It is a conscious component of the plot line.

As a member of the human species what do you think?

Movie Reviews this week looks at the sci-fi blockbuster Star Trek.
Not a lot of information had been released about this movie except that it tells the story when Spock and Captain James T. Kirk first meet.

At first many assumed this movie laid the background story for the Star Trek series, but after a while you realise this is not quite straight forward, as with the Star Trek universe, with worm holes, black holes, and time travel, anything is possible.

We join the movie when the U.S.S (United Star Ship) Kelvin is attacked by a ruthless Romulan, Captain Nero (at first his features look distinctly like that of Eric Bana Troy even with the heavy makeup and surprise surprise, it is him), he demands the captain of the U.S.S Kelvin comes aboard, the Captain Robau played by Faran Tahir (24, the patient with the inoperable brain tumor in Grey’s Anatomy) duly complies in the hope of saving his crew, seeing that whatever weapon Nero has on this Romulan ship is more advanced than anything he has seen before.

When his shuttle arrives, he is asked if he knows Ambassador Spock (with a 3D holographic image of Leonard Nimoy circling), he says he is unfamiliar with that name, despite his protests he doesn’t stop Nero from his attack.

We next see our young protagonist on an amazing joy ride with a vintage car he has stolen, while being chased by a cop, the cop eventually catches up with him and when asked his name, he states boldly “My name is James Tiberius Kirk”.

Several years later the young Kirk is now a young man played by Chris Pine (Smoking Aces) but still a rebel, he comes into a bar containing many Starfleet cadets, and hits on one lovely cadet, Uhura played by the gorgeous Zoe Saldana, a fight ensues, until Captain Pike played by Bruce Greenwood (National Treasure: Book of secrets) puts a stop to it, he encourages Kirk to join Starfleet based on his impressive academic scores, you are not sure if Kirk is in the frame of mind to take his advice, but inevitably he does.

While at Starfleet he makes friends with Dr. McCoy aka Bones played by Karl Urban (The Chronicles of Riddick, with an uncanny mannerism with the original Dr. McCoy played by DeForest Kelly), and Kirk eventually meets a young Spock played by the very talented Zachary Quinto (much better known as Sylar, and who strangely looks eerily like a young Leonard Nimoy), after Kirk breaks Spock’s simulated test which no one had even beaten; a Starship being attacked by a number Klingons’ birds of prey and the Captain must decide on a course of action when facing certain death, Spock cites Kirk in front of the Starfleet command for cheating, and that the purpose of the test Kirk passed was to accept death and learn fear, however Kirk is adamant that he did not cheat but since he saved the crew he states he duly passed the test. This first altercation sets the scene for the relationship between Kirk and Spock for the rest of the movie, while the ruthless Romulan Nero seeks revenge on a young Spock.

Star Trek is a superb science fiction action movie, and fans of the series will be impressed by the depth of character portrayed in the cast re-enacting characteristics of the beloved original series, from Hikaru Sulu played by John Cho (Harold and Kumar escape from Guantanamo Bay), and a very impressive Anton Yelchin (Terminator: Salvation) who plays Chekov complete with his Russian accent, the well loved Scotty is played by Simon Pegg (How to make friends and alienate people, Shaun of the dead) with an equally impressive Scottish accent, not to forget that the legendary Leonard Nimoy himself is also in this movie.

Movie Reviews is constantly updated with carefully selected reviews of great movies that are a must see.

The AI

I’ve rarely seen such a good AI. At least we have our struggles noted repeatedly that the wishes of the enemy ships, or even inadvertently focused their attacks and special abilities to one of us. If that happened, you have to very quickly adapt to this and any defensive skills, such as enable the evasion to at least have a chance to escape the crossfire. If you can not manage it, you can admire a beautiful graphic explosion of your own ship and a debris cloud slowly drifting apart. Also the AI is quite intelligent its various weapons. So do not be surprised if, at the beginning of the difficulty of the space battles more violent acts. But perhaps the the release still a little adapted, and the developers wanted to test the CB only diverse enemy group compositions and the actual difficulty.

The graph

The graphics of the game was already in the CB a treat. This has in fact improved from patch to patch. Both the explosions and shield animations and graphics are well worth seeing. If this is the release towards improved even further, you can look forward to a feast for the eyes first class.

The performance

Again, this has been optimized gradually and so far I can only say that I was able to experience a fairly stable closed beta servers, with few or no problems. To better computers, it is no problem to reach 120 fps display rate – even during the fiercest battles.

PvP

The PvP I know so far only from the Battle Grounds, which have installed the program. To join a queue for a BG, you have to do is click the little white inverted triangle to the right of small map. Then a list with the available Battlegrounds. Here you have to make the decision whether you want up on the ground or measure in the space ship combat. For both types of PvP you’re transported in a closed fight instance with sto credits, where it is to perform different tasks depending on the instance. When spaceship battle there is for example Area control missions where you have to take points. To check your site more points, the more influence the opponents side loses. Of course, space ships are destroyed to the same. When ground fighting you have to kill a certain number of enemies. In the end there is a Belohnungsloot in the form of skill points, energy credits, medals and the like. Remember not to pick them. Otherwise, you have the BG, except for the fun it has brought, in vain.

The BGs make an incredible fun. I’ve tried plenty of them. So far I have only run on Federation side of PvP, so I can tell you that the Klingons make pretty tough opponent. Especially in the spaceship fight their camouflage is pretty intense. Are you flying to a place where only a Klingon appears to unmask a sudden three Bird of Prey and blow you away. And how they can blow away one! For its size, the Klingon ships have a lot of fire power to summon that can turn up very quickly in a cloud of dust when they focus up to two or three. Or you have a BoP as an opponent whom you have shot 20% down and then suddenly disguises. These are all frustrating experiences, which can be counteracted by coordinated team play. dabeizuhaben a master of science along with his ship, which has a tractor beam is an advantage. It can hold the opponent for just the second and the camouflage prevent it takes the rest to destroy the Klingons. Remember also not your photon or quantum torpedoes, which would also lose track of cloaked ships can not and thus have missed in my many Klingons often the fatal shot. Moreover, here too a focus of important enemies.

The Klingons have developed some techniques to just that to be more complex. Their small ships are the light cruisers of the Federation far superior in firepower and the longer they live, the more damage they can cause. Some of the larger Klingon ships have therefore built mines, which they distribute in the battle area ample. So you can approach special scenes almost no enemy ship more, as each set is also an enemy mine. So you can not focus on the BoP and therefore more small boats to live much longer, especially as they have through their stealth something like a second life. Is their structure down too quickly, they disguise themselves easily. Are not you at least three or more ships on the enemy, he has a good chance to get away and 5-10 seconds later to appear on another site to make trouble. So therefore, I have just tried to follow a different strategy. I fly in a federation escort and was therefore a lot of fire power to summon. After the third BoP wegtauchte then in front of me, I have myself “To hell with it” said and I fell with my wingman for the next K’Tinga-cruisers, and this cut away within 5-10 seconds. Behold, a solution was.

Since then I’ve basically fallen first on the larger ships that laid the mines, and everything became easier. The mines disappeared so gradually, we have limited the firepower of the enemy side and behind the BoP were not just cannon fodder, but far easier opponent than before. So if you think your opponent will not listen, then just try a different strategy, as could the lead up to success.

Furthermore, there is still the ground fighting. I call it just like that, although not always on the ground, but held in the mornings in an abandoned ship. These remind one another to MMOs, where you kill with his character, here his captain, other opponents. These BGs make a lot of fun times and are always a nice change.

In addition to these scenarios, there are still differences in the neutral zone PvP alternatives to operate. This was added to one of the last patches in the Closed Beta. Whether this is meant the open PvP, I can not say, as I understand by Open PvP something other than what’s been added here. In this new sector of the neutral zone, you can fly to each planet and comes to planetary systems, where one can also operate PvP. I was here, in any case in a so-called commodity-battle (Battle of resources). The task was to repair it five yards of the Borg to destroy. The PvP designed so that the Klingons at the same time on this card have the same task and therefore, there is a competition. But not only the Klingons, it was fought. No, the Borg, it just did not let us destroy the shipyards. For the game mechanics is said, Thou shalt not until attacked by the Borg, until you’ve done damage to one of its ships or at one of their installations. If you begin it, the hunt is released and the cubes begin to hand out damage.

There is even a tribute to the developers attached, for they are as closely as possible the original remained and have implemented the Borg pretty one to one. Whether the difference in size of the cubes to the normal Federation starships or even their fighting, the slightly rotating cubes. In addition, the Borg ships have also a superior fire power and are quite difficult to destroy, so there is one or the other can happen once his ship go up in smoke to see.

Who played Warhammer, the battles as they can think of a Public Quest, in which it was to outdo the other side and make the quest for the opposition finished. There is only one small difference here: You have to attack in this case, the Klingons. This may already be quite hectic, between the Fire! Strong Borg and Klingons.

Outlandish Internet Businesses Create Cash

By Logan Walker

Designing a worthwhile site which will earn is usually a bit of a problem. If you get a bit strange, you can create change hand over foot.

Okay, let us be clear about one issue. We are not talking about porn sites or anything else of that type. After we discuss strange Internet businesses, we are really talking about a very particular niche market.

A niche is simply a segment of a business area or topic that isnt discussed much, but has a large amount of consumer interest. The stereotypical model of a niche market is Star Trek. The show has spawned a crowd of fans. Those fans drop by conventions, buy all kinds of Star Trek product possible and customarily are very loyal with the brand. Although many people consider Star Trek fans to be a bit weird, they’re a typical market.

One approach to being profitable on the Web is to concentrate on a really particular niche. Adult internet sites are the biggest revenue producers around the web. No matter your view of the sites, they offer an important lesson. Every single adult site is a niche site. Sales revenue studies show the adult internet sites which are very niche defined absolutely rake in cash. This is a lesson you must take to heart.

Focusing on a niche market has some significant advantages. The extent of competition in the niche is almost always planning to be less than in the more general market. Since you can find fewer competitors, you will be ready to become a leading figure in the niche in case you so desire. This results in publicity and so on. It is good. Excellent!

Going with a niche market is a superb idea, but finding a strange niche is even better. Strange niches tend to have a smaller population of interested people i.e. potential consumers, but they are also able to buy if you can offer them with something they have been looking for but cant find. Just as important, they will come back to buy more and tell there friends. It is also very good.

A basic example of a wierd Net business is gourds. It took me some time to figure it out, but gourds are melon-like bulbs. Apparently, individuals love to dry them out and then paint on them. Lots of people like to try this maybe 50,000 searches a month are undertaken for gourd keywords. A couple of years back, there was almost no competition for rankings. They appeal to the need that people have to believe that there is something else out there besides us. When people need something to believe in they either lean towards religion or science. Those that lean towards science love these types of films.

People also like to ask, “what if…” in different ways. Science fiction movies allow people to open up their imaginations to all sorts of possibilities. What if there is life on other planets? What if that life came here to Earth? What if that life form was bad? What if that life form was good? All of these questions are things we ask ourselves and these types of movies allow us to explore the possibilities.

Science fiction movies are often full of things that we like in movies. There is suspense and excitement. There are battle scenes and sometimes even romance. The storytelling is often of high quality and thought provoking questions are addressed. These films often address issues like ethics and philosophy and can make us think for days on end.

There are many great science fiction movies out there and they appeal to a wide audience. If you have never watched sci fi flicks before check out some of these classic movies:

The Matrix Trilogy: This trilogy of science fiction movies follows Neo and his friends as it addresses the question, What if this life isn’t real? What if we have another life and the life we think we are living is just a dream?

The Star Wars Movies: This series of movies kept sci-fi fans on the edge of their seats for over a decade with movies that brought together love, ethics, power, the battle for right and wrong, and of course, exploration of the universe.

The Star Trek Movies: Over the past several decades there have been many Star Trek movies made. The older movies are as fascinating as the new ones and the characters pull you in.

Planet of the Apes: The first movie was made in 1968 made us think about what would have happened if we had not completely evolved. A remake of the original movie was made in 2001.

E.T.: This is one of the first movies that made people think of aliens in a positive way. Children and adults alike fell in love with this sweet extra-terrestrial that just wanted to go home.

Semiconductor equipment market is changing, in August 2009, SEMI issued optimistic forecasts of capital expenditure, has lowered the market expectations, adding that many chip makers are suddenly it to the "panic state." August's report, SEMI forecast wafer fab equipment spending in 2008 decreased by 20%, while 20% rebound in 2009. Forecast for 2008 unchanged. But in 2009, SEMI analyst ChristianGregorDieseldorff that semiconductor capital spending is expected to increase in the -10% to 5%. Many chip makers are re-evaluating capital expenditure plans due to stock pile storage market, another Wall Street crisis will have an impact. "It's like a panic." Dieseldorff commented.

Previously, NeedhamCo company also cut its 2009 global semiconductor capital spending forecast, said the spending will be reduced by 16.1% next year. Prior to reduce the company's forecast is 2.5%. Currently, equipment manufacturers have profoundly mixed feelings. "Memory manufacturing equipment spending is reduced, but continued strong logic." KLA-Tencor's chief marketing officer BrianTrafas said. Another problem is that foundries are spending very little, or even to stop spending. Trafas that foundries are being implemented "strategic purchase" rather than capacity to buy.

ICInsights has lowered its 2008 semiconductor growth forecast, expects sales grew only 4% to 2,443 billion U.S. dollars, lower than the previous growth rate of 7% and 2,503 billion in sales forecast.

ICInsights said chip shipments in 2008 are still strong growth, forecast to grow by 8 percent the whole year, but the chip average selling prices (ASP) will be reduced by 4%, which is the agency cut annual market size reasons. Analysts said the logic chip-based stock market going to the stage, in addition, Flash market is facing a price crash situation. But ICInsights that in the long run, as chip prices stabilize, the semiconductor market in 2007 to 2012 compound annual growth rate is expected to maintain the level of 10.6%. Because manufacturers have cut capital spending, will help improve capacity utilization, which will enable ASP in the future have the opportunity to stabilize or even rise. ICInsights forecasts the semiconductor market in 2008 capital spending will decline 18%.

In addition, iSuppli also announced the recent DRAM market rating from "neutral," citing a "negative" and stated that unless the memory manufacturers to make significant cuts movement, or short-term rating will not be back. Currently, in addition to Samsung, other DRAM makers are into the red. DRAM demand impact the overall economic downturn, companies fall into oversupply, coupled with major customers as the PC's financial industry is heading for recession, leading to memory demand uncertainty also led to rising inventories. DRAM makers mitigate losses the only way to stop shipments, expected in October from the possible widespread. Currently Elpida, Powerchip and other manufacturers have announced production cuts in succession.

iSuppli analyst NamKim that, with the industry, clearing inventory, the market recovery is expected, however, whether the current recession when it can stand up, is still unknown. iSuppli information, 512Mb and 1GBDDR2 chip stock prices fell in August were 16% and 27%.

In addition, Gartner announced in early September to adjust the 2008 global semiconductor sales forecast, 2008 forecast down from the 2,870 billion U.S. dollars to 2,850 billion U.S. dollars, an annual growth rate is also from 4.6% to 4.2%.

Credit Suisse recently in an investors forum held in Taipei on the speech, said customers in the global financial crisis and high inventory levels and other factors, the global semiconductor industry in the first quarter of 2009, before the situation has been weak in 2009 rebound in the second quarter.

The investment bank said the reduced demand, semiconductor manufacturers will be capital expenditure in 2008 than in 2007, reduced from 20 to 30 percent later, in 2009, is expected to continue to reduce capital expenditure.

In addition, the subject since 2006, the semiconductor market to technology stocks, as well as processor, memory, short-term market factors such as price wars, the semiconductor market, operating profit margin declined steadily in recent years, firms profits are shrinking, will force the semiconductor industry re-started.

What’s the state of science fiction on television? I’d have to say overall, just amazing.

Consider some of the shows we have available right now. Battlestar Galactica. Lost. Heroes. So many great shows that have captured the imaginations of people who once may have claimed to have no interest in science fiction.

Okay, so probably some of them still say that. People can be funny that way.

It’s not all rosy, of course. I’ve never understood how the SciFi Channel can produce some of the best and some of the worst science fiction I’ve ever seen. And unfortunately I generally don’t mean worst in the sense of “this is so bad it’s funny.” I mean just plain bad.

Then there are the could’ve been greats but some how never made it, such as Firefly. Sometimes it’s just hard to see a show not take off quite well enough when it deserves to.

Even some of the great shows have been cancelled of late. Stargate SG-1 ended all too soon.

Then there are shows such as Jericho. Would’ve been cancelled at the end of its first season, but fans said nuts to that and got 7 more episodes. Too bad it never pulled the ratings, as it was a fascinating series.

Science fiction on television constantly has to fight its Nielsen ratings, which tend to be lower than what network executives like to see. High Nielsens means more money for them, after all. Advertisers willing to pay more and all that.

So what science fiction television really needs is more fans.

That’s a challenge. I’ve met plenty of people with irrational biases against science fiction. They picture the worst of what they’ve heard of it, and assume that ray guns and rockets that do U-turns are typical fare. It’s often hard to convince people that science fiction can encapsulate every kind of drama they enjoy in other shows.

Even as they applaud “Lost”.

While you can argue with non-fans all you like that some popular shows do actually include elements of science fiction, they aren’t going to want to believe you if it’s not obvious to them. It’s hard to convince people that great shows such as Battlestar Galactica bear little resemblance to what they’re thinking of.

But you can show them. Dare your friends to watch your favorite science fiction show every week for an entire season. In exchange, you watch their favorite show for the same amount of time. With any luck the suffering will be worth it and you’ll hook your friend on science fiction in general.

Stephanie Foster is a science fiction fan and runs http://www.sciencefictionado.com/ to give herself a place to express that and share with other fans. See what she thinks of other science fiction television shows at her site.
battlestar galactica

By Jamie Hanson

The most powerful at the same time complicated part of the USS enterprise is none other than star trek’s warp drive. It is a boon to the human beings. Making contacts with aliens life forms is what is done on this special device. The warp drive has made such challenging and distant things obtainable and has greatly changed the technologies for the Milky Way.

Travelling in space is even faster than the speed of light by this warp drive. This brilliant device has been attained by producing warp fields. Not only this will envelope the starship but also distort the space time field. Hence, this would bring about velocities exceeding the velocity of light. These velocities are known as the warp factor. Warp drive is a form of interstellar propulsion in the Milky Way galaxy. The trade and warfare is made possible by this.

The researcher Zefram Cochrane created with modern warp physics. Cochrane did wonders in the mid-twenties with his team mates on this theory after which he derived the mechanism of continuum distortion propulsion (CDP). He managed to grab the potential required for higher energies and also faster than light travel. This concluded in practical operations which were even over and above the solar system. The task of intense review of all physical sciences was taken by his team efficiently.

They worked very hard and seriously on this mechanism. This led them to complex set of equations, materials formulae which described details about the super luminal flight. Around 2061, the team finally got successful in producing massive prototype field device which was referred to as the warp drive.

The informally dubbed warp engines i.e. the CDP engines were a success in that era and could be easily installed in spacecraft designs. Obviously it is inefficient according to the present standard but it was an accomplishment then. Anyway it reduced the time taken by flights to travel from decades to years.

The unit for measurement of velocity of the warp drive in star trek is warp factors units which corresponds to the warp field magnitude. The light barrier and warp factor being unity are equivalent. The actual velocity is determined by making use of uncertain formulae.

The subspace field stress is measured by using Cochrane units and these are also used measure distortions of field generated by deflectors, synthetic gravity field, and tractor beam. Fields which are below one warp are assessed by microcochrane.

The function of Cochrane value has a function which is power required for maintaining a given warp. The required energy to ascertain the field is recognized as the peak transition threshold. This threshold should not be crossed or else the amount of power required declines. The efficiency of the warp diver coil decreases electro dynamically with rise in the warp factor.

The most powerful and unique device Star Wars’s Hyperdrive and the Star Trek’s Warp Drive has the speed more than the speed of light. Grab more details about the above.

star trek online game details

By Lucys Micle

Universe Star Trek (“Star Trek”) is very popular in the world, although Russia and the CIS countries is not as well known as the episode during the Soviet period did not show. In any case, in February 2010 released a new massively multiplayer game Star Trek Online, and the product sto credits, which attracted much attention. The action in this game takes place both in space and on the surface of planets, and the visual component pleasantly pleased. We conducted our traditional tests of quality and productivity Star Trek Online on different cards.

If we talk about equipment and raising the level of Star Trek Online, the possibilities of personalization of the game just endless. Each gamer is the captain of a spaceship, so you can customize the look, upgrade equipment or to choose the best model of the ship. You can also develop the skills of your character and the officer on the bridge, as well as to equip them.

New equipment can be obtained by collecting loot and research, or you can buy it. To purchase equipment in the game provides several options for the money – energy credits, and merit badges researcher Starfleet as the primary means of purchase, but there are other categories of objects that can be used for trading. Of course, the Federation – a utopian society without money, so the prime conventional loans are not provided. Well, welcome to the future.

Another aspect of the game, new to me, was in the form of creating automatic groups. There are missions where you descend to the planet and discover a few other players on your team who are pursuing the same goals. There are also missions where you are in a battle in space with other people. Frankly, this is a very curious way to get acquainted with other players and take part in co-op missions. When the mission is complete, your new friends will not be lost, it is possible to further the group continued the game, unless you have no other plans.

As for the battles one-on-one against other players (PvP), we had a very limited time for testing, so we’re not too keen on this opportunity, preferring to explore the game itself. We drew attention to a ground area of PvP on the planet Andorian, and even there the space field PvP, where the captains of Klingon and Federation can measure themselves. Speaking of Klingons, it is generally a race, very much based on the battles of PvP. You can not even create a hero, Klingons, yet spend some time as a player on the side of the Federation, and the growth of the hero-Klingon depends almost entirely on the battles of PvP. Funny!

What the game lacks? To begin with, that going into the game and the gameplay requires some effort. I had a long time to get used to before I got used to the different aspects of the game and started having fun. Unlike other MMO, where only one type of combat, Star Trek Online begins with the ground battles, then you are quickly transported into space and begin to re-learn everything, then you find yourself on the local space station – and good luck! Everything happens very quickly, the first couple hours of play is not funny until you have mastered the basics. Even after several days of playing you will still learn the fundamental principles. However, there is some good news: as the development of the game it becomes more interesting.

Secondly, I felt a clear inequality between space and terrestrial missions. Space battles are well developed, you can play very comfortably, but here’s terrestrial mission is no longer leave such an impression. The situation has certainly improved since the beta, but I just caught myself thinking that I wanted to quickly finish this dreary ground mission, to be back in his chair captain of a spaceship. However, this is a subjective opinion, and the transition between ground and space battles noticeably refreshing game, unlike many other MMO.

Finally, if we move away from all the new features that brings the game, apart from the battles you’re unlikely to get something special. Fans of the series Star Trek in terms of intellectual science fiction will be disappointed. Star Trek Online offers the same actions of murder, delivery, collection and support that other MMO before it, the only difference is that the action takes place in the universe of Star Trek. Of course, in some missions do not have to fight at all, but most likely it’s quests for picking up something that does not give much pleasure, or too light. Of course, it is clear that game developers have made every effort to make the quest interesting, in many cases, but in general outline, they are simply the dilution of combat missions, than for something more.

Despite all our complaints, the game immerses the viewer into itself and brought a lot of pleasant moments. In fact, the game is much vaster and richer than we can express in this short article. Do not forget that we focus on game performance on your computer. Suffice it to say that I have experienced many pleasant surprises was just intrigued by this MMO, though to start a game, I do not pinned much hope on it. But let’s move on to the benchmarking of performance and quality.
